Luther Ronzoni Vandross (April 20, 1951 - July 1, 2005) was an American R&B singer. A formidable soul artist whose career spanned four decades- 70's (as backing singer to David Bowie (Young Americans) and Chic, 80's vocalist on early Change singles (Searching) before establishing a solo career that perhaps never realised his true potential. In the 90's he was probably more famous for duets with Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey as well as an ongoing battle with his weight, that may have ultimately proved his undoing. Suffered a stroke in 2004, from which he never really recovered, and passed away in 2005. During his career, Vandross sold 25 million albums and won eight Grammy awards including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance four times.

Lady, Lady Lyrics

Luther Vandross

They may say that were the best thing that could be
They say it to you and they say it to me
But to each other they are insistin
Something must be missin
Things cant really be the way they seem to be
They dont know Love they way we do
Theyve never loved someone like you
Lady lady, I never let them talk about you
cause youre mine
I jump up when they talk about you
But so what, Im gonna be your guy
You can never win
Once that stuff begins
cause when it starts, it just never ends
People start rumors about you
Say those things about you
But I wont ever doubt you
Youre my best friend
Let them be how they want to be
They cant stop you from loving me
So you see, I dont care what they say, I dont care what they do
Im the one who loves you, Im the one you need, Im the one
A symphony plays when you are near
And I love the music that I hear
